How to obtain
a marriage license
As Clerk to the probate court, the clerk files all instruments making them a matter of record in decedent estate cases, and swears in all witnesses in contested estates. The Clerk also in this capacity maintains all records relative to adoptions and guardianship cases within the county.
Master Probate Index - This index is helpful in locating probate cases utilizing the name of the person as well as the case number. If a name is all that is known then the number of the case can be attained by using this index. The index for Jackson County is automated in a database that has search capabilities. This index is a work in progress and is not complete.
